David Potterton
Vice President of Global Research, Financial Insights

David Potterton is Vice President of Research for the Global Banking, Insurance, Capital Markets and Risk Management practices. These advisory services cover retail banking, cash and treasury management, payment services, insurance, core corporate banking technologies as well as capital markets and risk.
His 25 year career in financial services as a practitioner, market researcher, and consultant has involved extensive interaction within investment banking, corporate cash and treasury management, and retail banking operations. With his experience in both domestic and wholesale banking, product development, business development, and product management, Potterton understands not only the research business, but the specific challenges and opportunities that financial services firms face. His career at several high profile banks gives him a practical and highly relevant perspective on the issues.
In his most recent role, Dave was Vice President and Group Manager/Consultant for the End to End Process Review Team, an internal consulting group within JPMorganChase. In this role, Dave led multiple engagement teams in End to End process reviews across JPMC business units globally focusing on opportunities for process improvement and risk identification. Prior to this position, Dave was Senior Business Strategy Manager within the Client Access group of JPMorgan Treasury Services where his role was to provide strategic direction and business thought leadership for the development and deployment of wholesale financial services. In addition, throughout his career, Dave has served in senior product management roles all focused on driving growth. At JPMorganChase and BankBoston, he was charged with developing ways to retain customers, increase their share of wallet, and drive new account activity. Prior to JPMorgan Chase and BankBoston, Potterton was at Wachovia as vice president and group product manager. In this role, he was heavily focused on information reporting and money transfer products strengthening the product set and driving change as new products were brought to market. Along with his financial institution experience, Potterton also was a research director within the wholesale and eFinancial group at Meridien Research with specific focus on eBanking which allowed him to leverage his real world experience in this area. In addition, Dave was a financial analyst at Manufacturer's Hanover Trust and then a commercial business development officer at Provident Bank.
Jeanne Capachin
VP, Financial Insights Global Banking and Insurance Practices

Jeanne Capachin is the Research Vice President for the Global Banking and Insurance practices. Capachin has more than two decades of experience working in and consulting to the banking industry. Capachin works with the global analysts to develop the client driven research agendas, our spending forecast methodologies and guides, and oversees the Financial Insights ranking programs.
Capachin has more than two decades of experience working in and consulting to the banking industry. Throughout her career she has taught thousands of bankers, vendors, and regulators about banking and payment systems issues and trends. She has also participated, on both a national and an international level, in developing training programs and has spoken at a variety of conferences on topics such as industry trends and spending patterns, electronic payment trends, regulatory issues, and strategies for success. As a banker, Capachin led post-acquisition systems integration teams, managed large operations teams, and led product development efforts.
Before joining Financial Insights, Capachin was Director of Education with the New England ACH Association (NEACH). In this position, she was responsible for the association’s educational offerings. Prior to joining NEACH, Capachin held positions in product management, operations management, and systems development and integration at Bank of Boston and Guaranty Bank and Trust. Capachin has over 15 years of banking experience with these two institutions covering many functional roles.
Capachin holds her CCM and AAP designations and is active in local and national industry trade organizations. Capachin holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Worcester State College in Urban Studies and Economics. Capachin is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and is often quoted in publications throughout the world including the BBC, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, The American Banker, Bank Systems and Technology, Bank Technology News, Treasury and Risk Management, and The Industry Standard. She has authored research on a range of topics including spending trends, treasury management, payment initiatives, security issues, and other financial services topics.
Peter Farley
Managing Director, EMEA

Peter Farley is responsible for all Financial Insights’ research, sales, marketing and conference activity in the EMEA region. Through Peter's direction, the Financial Insights' European practices of Banking, Insurance, Capital Markets and Risk Management deliver valuable analysis in a timely manner to enhance clients’ business decision-making capability. His primary objective is to ensure clients derive the maximum benefit from both the research programs and the subsequent ability to customize deliverables for individual business development needs. Industry Expertise Over 25 years of industry experience within global financial markets, initially as an economic journalist and then as a capital markets analyst and independent consultant to suppliers of products and services to the investment community.
Peter's background includes experience as a financial journalist in a variety of global business centers, and as an economic correspondent for real-time news services such as Reuters. In addition Farley spent several years as an investment editor of South Africa’s largest circulation daily newspaper and spent multiple years in senior positions delivering and managing research and analysis services that covered all aspects of the capital markets for divisions of Standard & Poor’s and Thomson Financial. Most recently Farley was an independent consultant in business responsible for product development projects for a wide variety of providers of analytic tools and services to professional users in the investment community.
Educated at schools in the UK and the US, finishing at Dulwich College, London prior to joining trade industry publications to begin journalism apprenticeship. Previously a member of the Investment Analysts Association of Southern Africa.
Patricia McGinnis
Research Director, Corporate Banking Practice

Patricia McGinnis is a research director for the Financial Insights' Corporate Banking Advisory Service, specializing in domestic and international treasury systems, core banking systems, commercial and consumer credit management systems, and enterprise management systems. Her newest initiatives focus on "Green Banking" research and advising financial institutions on "greening" their business.
McGinnis, a 25-year financial services industry veteran, has multifaceted experience in research, consulting, product marketing, and sales training at the intersection of technology, strategy, and finance. She has worked at a leading financial institution and a hardware vendor, as well as in multiple corporate and academic research and consulting environments. Her work focuses on the strategic use of technology to meet business requirements, and has included strategic product and business planning, market research, financial planning, competitive positioning and IT organizational strategies.
Before joining Financial Insights, McGinnis was in independent IT analyst providing objective analysis of technology infrastructures within financial services at Mainspring Communications and the TowerGroup. In the academic domain, she served as the Executive Director of the International Financial Services Research Center at the MIT Sloan School, managing the delivery of advanced academic research to a select group of international financial services industry sponsors.
McGinnis holds a Master of Science in Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management with a concentration in finance and economics, a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Bentley College, and a bachelors degree in economics from Harvard College. She is also an experienced horticulturalist and landscape designer, certified by the Landscape Institute of the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. She is sought after by the press for her knowledge and is often quoted in industry vertical publications.
